Hot Yoga

Our "HOT" yoga is a series of hatha yoga postures practiced in a heated room. Also known as "Bikram Yoga" it is a series that is repeated at every class, allowing beginners and more seasoned practitioners to progress at their own pace while practicing in community. The first portion of the class is the standing series that includes pranayama (breath work), warm up asanas to open and stretch the body and prepare it for the balancing and strength building postures that follow including half-moon, awkward, standing bow, balancing stick, triangle and tree. There is a short rest period and then we move into floor work where we complete a systematic and thorough spinal conditioning series. The floor series includes cobra, half and full locust, half tortoise, floor bow, camel and rabbit. We conclude with an exhale breathing exercise and shavasana. There may be minor variations in the standing series depending on the instructor.

Our teachers have completed trainings with a variety of knowledgeable master yoga instructors including Lauren Fawcett, Jimmy Barkan and Bikram Choudory. In addition to hot yoga trainings, all teachers have completed workshops with senior instructors in other styles of yoga including vinyasa, Iyengar, astanga, and power yoga. Therefore their teaching styles can incorporate the beautiful flow of vinyasa, the alignment principles of Iyengar and the strength of an astanga practice.

We want to emphasize that our HOT yoga is suitable for beginners and experienced students alike. The most common complaint against trying yoga is "I am so inflexible."
Whatever your body type, whatever your fitness level, whatever your age or stage in life, you will find many and far reaching beneficial results in a yoga practice.
